FAQ

What is the average price of local movers in Palm Desert, CA?

Moving companies generally increase their quotes based on their schedule and local demand, but the top movers in Palm Desert can cost you a total of $577 – or $78 per mover per hour in labor costs. Here are some factors that can potentially balloon the final price of your estimate: the total volume of the customer’s belongings, packing materials and equipment (hand trucks, cardboard, packing peanuts), distance of your previous and new location, transportation costs, accessibility, and convenience of your new house (stair and elevator carry), and the moving schedule (time and year).

What is the most cost-effective way to move furniture in Palm Desert?

When moving locally, you can get the best bang for your buck by using a rental truck. The upside is that you can cut labor costs by a nice amount since you’ll pack, load, unload, and unpack your stuff as well as drive it to your new home. – saving you valuable time that you can otherwise allocate to more important things. The downside is you have to consider the fuel costs, toll charges, and possibly packing supplies if you didn’t pack them yourself.

How much do you tip movers in Palm Desert?

According to our movers, people tip them up to 10%-15% of the final moving price each.

How do I protect my furniture when moving to Palm Desert, CA?

You can wrap and cover most of your belongings with plastic wraps, packing peanuts, corrugated cardboard, and non-scratch blankets. You can get most of these materials for free by asking your friends and family members. For peace of mind, you can also disassemble your furniture to maximize space on the truck and minimize potential damage in transit. For peace of mind, you can consult with your chosen moving company on how to best protect your items.

How long does moving to Palm Desert take?

It takes at least 3-5 hours to smoothly move all your belongings to your new house. However, you can significantly cut down on time if you choose a high-quality and reliable local moving company to do your move.

How many movers do I need for my move to Palm Desert?

Your moving team should have at least 2 movers to handle your furniture since depending on the service, they will be packing, unpacking, loading, and unloading the contents of your entire home. You can possibly add more movers to speed up the process if you have a lot of heavy items like a piano or a pool table. You can use the list below to calculate how many you’ll need for a smooth and stress-free moving service: apartment = 2 movers, 2-4 bedroom home = 3-4 movers, and 4+ bedroom home = 4-5 movers.

About Palm Desert, CA

Palm Desert is a small city in Riverside County, California’s Coachella Valley. The city has been one of the state’s fastest-growing communities since the 1980s.

Originally settled by Cahuilla Indians and called the Old MacDonald Ranch, the history of Palm Desert began when it was only called Palm Village in honor of the date palms that were planted and cultivated in the area.

However, residential development only began when General Patton took an interest in Palm Desert as a potential army training ground, establishing a motor pool and maintenance camp in the middle of now-El Paseo.

Palm Desert was further developed by the Henderson Brothers and landscape architect Tommy Tomson, with the support of business magnate Leonard Firestone, celebrity Harold Lloyd and radio personality Edgar Bergen.

With 1,600 acres at their disposal, the Henderson Brothers built Shadow Mountain to cultivate an interest in the desert. By 1973, Palm Desert became a successful venture and was incorporated as a local community, spanning from their neighboring city of Palm Springs to Indio.

Today, Palm Desert is a popular winter haven for “snowbirds” looking to spend the cold season in the desert as well as inviting exclusive communities due to its high-value yet affordable properties. Several celebrities and influential people have even kept homes around the city; among them are multibillionaire Bill Gates, TV host Dean Martin, and singer Frank Sinatra.
