FAQ

How much do local movers in Newport Beach usually cost?
Local Newport Beach, CA movers typically charge around $430 in total on average. Moving companies generally increase their quotes based on demand and several factors, but here is a list that can significantly add extra costs:

– Weight and quantity of the customer’s belongings – Materials and equipment (hand trucks, cardboard, packing peanuts)
– Distance of your previous and new home
– Moving schedule (time and year)
– Labor costs
What day are Newport Beach movers cheapest?
The best moving date falls between Monday and Thursday, while the most expensive days are on the weekends since most people’s schedules are flexible on those days.
How much do you tip movers in Newport Beach?
Moving companies don’t have a standard tip list, so you can tip your movers accordingly if they did a job well done. As a rule of thumb, you can tip around 10-15% of the total moving cost to each mover. Local moves can cost somewhere around $150-$1000, while long-distance moves can amount to $1,000-14,000.
Can you move furniture to Newport Beach by yourself?
If you have a small apartment and have tons of free time, then yes, you can. However, if you have a sizable house or have tons of heavy furniture, then consider having an extra pair of hands or two with the help of friends or family. You can also hire a labor-only moving service with Community Labor Partnership to speed up the process.
How do I protect my furniture when moving to Newport Beach?
A few of the amazing packing materials that you can get for free from friends or family are cheap scraps like plastic wraps, packing peanuts, and corrugated cardboard. If you want to ensure that some of your antiques are securely packed and handled with care, then we recommend buying non-scratch blankets.
How long does moving to Newport Beach take?
It depends but generally, local moving in Newport can take between 3-5 hours to complete. However, traffic in Newport is very congested, especially during rush hour. This is especially concerning if you plan on moving to or near the beach area since you can expect a few hours stuck in traffic. So consider scheduling your transit outside those hours for a more wonderful experience.
How many movers do I need for my move to Newport Beach?
Since your movers will double as a packing service as well as load and unload your stuff, we recommend hiring at least 2 hard-working movers to handle your furniture, possibly more if you have a lot of heavy items like a piano or a pool table. You can use this list to calculate how many movers you’ll need for a smooth and efficient moving service:

– Studio apartment = 2 movers
– 2 4 bedroom home = 3-4 movers
– 4+ bedroom home = 4-5 movers

About Newport Beach, CA

Newport Beach is a city in the Orange County of Southern California. Tongva Indians Payómkawichum people originally settled the area in and around Newport Beach for millennia. They were replaced by Spanish rancheros who traded with American and European merchants sailing around South America.

However, in 1852 after Spain ceded California to the United States, paired with a three-year drought forced most rancheros to sell their lands to aspiring entrepreneurs that were drawn to the area. Two of those entrepreneurs, named James Irvine and James McFadden, had the dream of turning their newly acquired lands into an important commercial center,

In 1870, Captain Samuel S. Dunnells, with the guidance of the McFadden brothers and James Irvine, sailed into Newport Bay to prove the waterways were safe for entry, creating a “new port” in the area that Dunnells named Newport Landing.

Newport Landing became a lumber terminal at first but slowly developed thriving commercial trade and shipping businesses. In 1906, Newport Landing was then renamed the city of Newport Beach, which hosted yachting, sport, and commercial fishing as tourist attractions which made Newport the largest business area in Orange County.

Today, Newport Beach is famous for its exclusive residential areas, modern and accessible shopping districts, and thriving business community scene. Newport Bay harbor also docks around 4,000 boats and yachts in its 21-square-mile marina area, while Newport Beach provides fishing, swimming, and surfing tourist activities.

Top Attractions

Since 1905, Newport Beach has been a fan-favorite for both locals and tourists alike due to its golden sands that glimmer in the sunlight.

The beach spans from the Santa Ana River up to the tip of the Balboa Peninsula. The main municipal beach is the most popular attraction since it hosts numerous water sports and activities on its beach, boardwalk, and piers that you can enjoy alone or with the family.

Activities include taking a leisurely walk along the city’s boardwalk and two piers or jogging or cycling through for fitness enthusiasts. At the beach, Newport has plenty of activities, from kayaking, fishing, sailing, and surfing to beach volleyball and bathing in Southern California’s sunlight.

However, if you’re an avid surfer that wants more challenging beaches, then the Wedge is a must-visit attraction for you.

Located at the eastern tip of the Balboa Peninsula, the Wedge is home to the largest waves in Southern California, which makes it a hotspot for surf and water sports enthusiasts.

Locals and visitors enjoy a wide range of activities, from bodyboarding, surfing, to lounging on the sands and enjoying both the waves and the natural beauty of the area.
